With the Video Station, Synology already offers a video streaming server including a playback client. The Video Station has a great user interface and is easy to use. Unfortunately, the Video Station weakens a little when it comes to the compatibility of audio and video formats. The Plex Media Server is an alternative. It looks similar to the Video Station and is also easy to use and different formats and codecs are no problem for it.
